Icare® TONOVET Tonometer
The TONOVET is based on a rebound measuring principle, in which a light probe is used to make momentary, gentle contact with the cornea. The device is easy to use and the measurement is barely noticed by the animal and often does not even cause corneal reflex.
The disposable probe touches the cornea very lightly for only a fraction of a second. As no topical anaesthetic or disinfection is needed, the whole procedure is over quickly and disturbance to the animal is minimal with no risk of contamination.
Eye pressure should be measured from:
- Young patients to establish baseline readings
- Patients older than 6 to 7 years
- Patients predisposed to glaucoma (42 canine breeds)
- Ocular examination patients
- Head or eye trauma patients
The treatment of the patient is well tolerated with the absence of local anesthesia.
- Quick, painless and accurate procedure
- Self-calibrating
- Portable as it is powered by batteries
